Waltz of the Sneezes
During a pandemic the sneeze takes on a whole new persona. The sneeze becomes demonised. An innate reaction built to protect the human body now turns heads. A sneeze instils guilt.
A single sneeze can release 40,000 droplets spreading up to 6 feet into the air. The particles forming eerily beautiful patterns the naked eye cannot see.
"Waltz of the Sneezes" playfully looks at the hidden volume of a sneeze. An immersive installation that invites the viewer to waltz amongst the vibrant particles floating in the surrounding air. Challenging the perception of a sneeze during a global pandemic.
The Audio is based on Tchaikovsky's classic composition 'Waltz of the Flowers' in which the installation derives its name. Using the compositions structure, the audio uses the crescendo alongside a sneeze, representing a slow build-up to a macroscopic release.
The installation here is presented as a short film to allow the viewer to experience the installation online due to the current times.
The installation allows a fun, fresh viewpoint of the sneeze.
